I am Ren\u00e9 Alejandro Venegas Vel\u00e1squez, born in Punta Arenas, Chile, in 1971. I lived in my beloved Magallanes’<\/a> Region until 1988. My best memories are those of my family, my schoolmates<\/a> and the landscape, in particular the Strait of Magellan, the pampas and the Torres del Paine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During in 1989, I began my university studies of\u00a0Pedagogy in Spanish at the University of Playa Ancha in Valparaiso<\/a>. I graduated with a bachelor\u2019s degree in Hispanic Language and Literature and obtained a State Professor’s Degree in Spanish at the beginning of 1994. Between 1994 and 1995, I lived in Freiburg\u00a0in Breisgau, Germany and studied at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universit\u00e4t<\/a>. When I returned to Chile, I studied the master\u2019s degree in National Policy Management, with a mention in Education and Culture at the University of Playa Ancha. In 2002,\u00a0I started my doctorate in Linguistics at the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaiso<\/a>, Chile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since 2005, I have been working as a professor at the Institute of Literature and Language Sciences at<\/a> that university. In this institution, I teach in undergraduate courses and in the Postgraduate Program in Linguistics<\/a>. I am currently a tenured professor at this house of study.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During 2012, I completed a postdoctoral stay in the\u00a0Chair of Romanesque Philology and Linguistics by Dr. Johannes Kabatek<\/a>\u00a0at the Eberhard-Karls\u00a0Universit\u00e4t T\u00fcbingen\u00a0<\/a>in Germany. There, I also actively took part in the\u00a0Chair of Computational Linguistics directed by Detmar Meurers.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

My research, developed within the framework of the Linguistic School of Valparaiso,\u00a0is in corpus linguistics and natural language processing. I am particularly interested in studying specialized discourse and semantics from a computational perspective.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
